A new disturbing but hillarious part of our daily routine

Maddie had her new pallette expander installed this week.
Her jaw isn't wide enough to fit all of her teeth in,
so it needs widened over a six-month time period.

What does this entail?
Twice a day, we have to stick a tool into the hole in the center of the expander and crank it
a notch to widen it.  It doesn't hurt, but is uncomfortable.
The biggest trouble she's having is with swallowing.
It gets in the trouble of moving her tongue and chewing.
Poor kid...
hopefully six months will go fast!

She's a celebrated artist! ;)

Emma's drawing was chosen out of all the school to be placed in the larger district's art show!

Mariachi...

San Francisco: day three

mms_picture_0

Atalia took this great picture of the bridge with her cellphone.  Isn’t is GORGEOUS?

Sunday morning, Mary raced in the “Bay to Breakers” marathon.

It was CRAZY! lol

Most of the racers in this thing rang either NAKED (!!) or in costume.

It was AWESOME! lol

If you want to see pics of the race & the craziness, search Google images!

Later that evening, we made our way to Alcatraz.

It was FREEZING!!! But totally worth it!

This is another place that fascinated me!

The maintenance hall behind the cells where the holes were dug.

The prisoners escaped from their cells through the holes down on the bottom right

& then shimmied up these pipes to the roof.

Do you see the orb right in the middle of the picture?

I even had Atalia verify that this place wasn’t dusty. ;)

San Francisco: day two

DSCN7258

Trying to get up & moving on the second day was rough!

We were all so exhausted & Atalia even got a leg cramp that wouldn’t go away. lol

Mary was looking like I was feeling… TIRED!

DSCN7260

We made our way over to Boudin’s for lunch.  Their sourdough bread is AWESOME.

I had grilled cheese & tomato soup… Y-U-M!

After lunch, we made our way to San Jose to visit the Winchester Mystery House.

Have you seen this place on tv???

SO freaking cool!

Not only was all of the doors that go to nowhere and what-not very interesting,

but I truly loved seeing the old building and architecture!

That was actually my favorite thing about this whole trip…

the old architecture and all of the gorgeous houses & buildings.

I can sit and stare in awe at these buildings for days.

We weren’t allowed to take pictures inside of the house, which was disappointing. :(
